Glove Box Lid / Cover

Post by bluestreak56 »

I meant to do a search for this on the old forum before it closed but never got a chance.

I'm sure this is a common issue and that loads of people can help :chortle:

My glove box cover doesnt close properly, but that I mean I can flatten it flush but the latches dont seem to go into the holes and I cant lock it.

I have yet to try unscrewing the to receiver that connects to the dash but thought I'd ask here first.

I'm sure its probably because the dash has been warped by the sun over the years. Anyone else have this issue / know the solution?

Thanks

Yes Rohan, got the same problem since I did my dash swap last year, exactlly the same, sits flush but it isnt closed on the latch. To be honest, doesnt really bother me but if somebody comes up with some pointers I'd like to try to fix it.

I have exactly the same thing, the dash is quite badly warped. Got a better one from Jay on here, but it needs a bit of a refurb before I can fit it. I was thinking of making one out of carbon fibre, using the good one as a tool, but I'm not sure if it would look too chavvy when it was finished.

I dont think real carbon fibre is chav at all dude. Be a great challenge if you can do it mate, I'd say go for it :ok:

By the way, you OK to come to the Midlands Meet later this month?

You have to adjust the catch fixed to the dash.
Take's a bit of time tho..

Yeah you can slide it from side to side as the screw holes are actually oval shaped. Just loosen the screws slightly and it should move easily. I think it's the same with the hinges as well, but I may be wrong.

I unscrewed the holes that receive the catches and a couple of the hinge joints to the dash on the weekend and put them back but it didnt seem to fix the issue.

I did notice if I push the whole glovebox back up towards the windscreen from the front I can get the latch to lock in but this requires a bit of force.

I think Ill try removing the latch and repositioning it as you guys suggested next time.

Thanks alot :good:
