Whats in your boot? (over the spare wheel)
As the title says... whats meant to be in there? My GTII has just a flimsy boot carpet and nowt else. Set more than a bag of crips in there, and it falls into the spare wheel beneath
Surely theres some kind of hard cover meant to be under there? And is there a source for better quality boot carpets? This ones paper thin and a bit stained from the famous rocco leaky boot!

There should be a thicker, wheel-sized bit of foam backing on the back of the carpet, providing some sort of rigidity.
I have probably got two spare carpets - let me know if you want one.

Take the carpet out, put it down on a bit of wood, mark round it, cut wood, put in three battons under-neigh to raise it over the spare wheel (it does site proud), install wood (may have to make a slight cut out for hte rear seat belt lower connections), replace carpet over wood.
...job done!

...and then it's strong enough for piling up with bricks.

To 'the edmundator'
I would be interested in one of the boot carpets if possible (for the same car as the original poster).
Are either in good nick? Colour?
Many Thanks

New boot carpets are also available from Newton Commerical. About £35 if memory serves. I haven't used these folks before, but I did notice it on my travels.

I can build you one of these:
Obviously the symbol would be big enough to cover the wheel well, this was done for a mate who just carries tools in his.

Re: Whats in your boot? (over the spare wheel)
Ummm, I've no idea to be honest but pretty much the cost of the materials which can't be more than about £20 I reckon. Won't be until after Action though. If you want one, PM me and I can sling over some designs. Had meant to reply to you this week but work has cut into reality again so I;ve been a little focused.Junglist wrote:How much?
