My First Scirocco / BIG thanks to Grindon

Post by HotSoutheastWind »

Hi all,

Well yesterday i picked up my first Scirocco. She will be my last too as shes a keeper - shes going nowhere. Im a standard fetishist and she will be remaining completely standard as she is. Just loved and improved upon over time.

I have fond memories of my Dads GTS he owned from 88-90 and have wanted a Rocco ever since.

Ive been looking for a lovely Havanna Storm in good standard condition for some time now and im utterly over the moon and smitten with her.

I collected her in Newcastle yesterday and she drove the 160 miles trip home to Fife without missing a beat. 143,000 miles but she feels like 43,000 miles - absolutely fabulous car.

She will be a dry summer day only car from now.

Can i just express my sincere thanks to Grindon (Kevin) from this forum for selling me the car. He is an absolute gent and a man of his word - he described the car exactly as it was and couldnt of been nicer throughout - he welcomed us with open arms at his house and gave us a nice cuppa etc - if anybody is ever considering buying a car / parts or whatever from Kevin in the future then dont hesitate as he is a man of his word. Thank you Kevin.

The car will be subjected a good cleaning and detailing in the coming weeks as theres nothing i enjoy more.

Here are a few shots of the car at a pit stop coming home yesterday:

Home in its garage (its 20 ft by 8ft) so can get all round the car cleaning / service it without taking it out - heaven lol. I painted it inside especially for the Rocco ariving lol.

And finally a HUGE THANKS to Scirocco Register for bringing us together.

Cheers mate!!!

Nah im a total standard Nut so 100% standard is the only way for me.

Today ive bought a set of new old stock gen VW mats for it, traced the original stereo too - it gets delivered tomorrow.

The only mod im doing is the "Scirocco" script in the rear window as to me its just Quintesential Rocco and it really needs it.

Other than that, alloys refurbed, new Pirelli p6000's, a dam good service and just polish and enjoy on dry summer days!!!!

Get yourself a cover for it, I got one off e/bay cheap enough, like you I only take her out of the garage when the sun shines, and comes out looking fresh, and no dust on it. tinkerbel. :mafia:

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

Is indeed Purdy Lodge - my Dad run me down to pick up the Rocco and its a given rule that ANY time we go down the A1 we stop at Purdy for a fry up - its just a given!!! :hehe:

Very nice indeed. Is there a Brown Storm thing going on right now.. seen a few posts about 'em recently. All nice and shiny. Mine meanwhile remains at the Rat Look end of the spectrum :hehe:

A friend of mine came for a spin recently and described the experience as 'like being in a car out of Blade Runner'. That was good enough for me ..

Hi Russell,

It was great to meet you at the weekend and thanks for your kind words, you've made me blush

You know when I said I regretted selling her, I'm still not over it :crying:. Apologies for not having it cleaned for you but I was just back from hols the day before (I know you know this, I'm just letting the others know so they don't think I'm a lazy @rse :hehe: ).

Glad you had a good journey home. The car does drive like 43k miles, and it's a lot of fun. I'm glad it has gone to such a good home as you can give it the time and tlc that I couldn't (with so many other projects!). Enjoy the summer!!!

Good luck for the future, and look after it - it's a belter.

Cheers,

Kevin
ps - Oh, and keep it stock :vcool:

What do you mean 'what am I thinking'? If I wanted you to know what I was thinking, I'd be talking!

Thanks Kevin,

Much appreciated mate - it was great to meet you too and thank you once again.

Dont be daft on the cleaning front - its totally cool - it gives me an extra excuse to get stuck in!!! :)

The journey home was fabulous - more fun than any of my other cars ive had put together!!

I certainly will keep her standard as thats my 'thing" but i am going to put a Scirocco decal in the rear window - but thats hardly modifying it i guess!!

Ill certainly look after her mate for many years to come - and please if your ever up this way please swing by for a coffee and a catch up.

Kindest Regards, Russell.

Glad the Storm has found a good home. With you in keeping standard, my brown Storm took a lot of time and effort to get in the condition it is now but so worth it.
Look forward to seeing it if you manage to get to Bigger at the end of the month, I will be there in mine!
