Dropping my head and inlet manifold off in the near future to be flowed, ported, and generally spruced up... but the BIG question is...
I've read conflicting outcomes from doing it... some schools of thought seem to be advocating leaving it there as it adds to the fuel / air mixing jiggery pokery, whereas others seem to think they're getting better flow by shaving.
Spec will be going onto a 2E block with weber (rejetted for the 2E), fast road cam, induction affair for cold air (yet to be finalised) and Jetex exhaust with (for now) standard exhaust manifold (til I can fork out for a 4-2-1, but that's another story!!)
This is a road car, not a track toy.
Thoughts? Shave the hedgehog or not?

Re: Hedgehog
I've done mine mate and as you're gonna be running a Weber, you don't need it anyways. Can't see how it would cause a problem if you remove it, go for it bud

Re: Hedgehog
I asked about this ages ago and I got two responses- the difference it'll make is that removing it will mean the carb will take a little longer to warm up (don't know if that is just true of the 'burg and not the Weber), and the other response was simply that less obstructions mean better airflow - and better airflow can only be a good thing! I still haven't done the mod (forgot about it, really!), so if you do it let me know how you get on!
Good luck!
Good luck!

Re: Hedgehog
I decided to do it... BU?T... the results won't be apparent for quite some time as I am doing a complete rebuild, coupled with the fact I'm also upgrading the engine to a 2Litre block, I'm not going to be able t oadd a true comparason.

Re: Hedgehog
Interestingly the other half's '77 mk1 doesn't have a hedgehog in the inlet manifold, and it is not a modified car
