hi there just wondering what sort of mileage people are getting and what I should be getting from a 1985 1600cc Gt fitted with a Pierberg carburettor. Now I have been getting quite poor mpg of late but am working on fixing the Pierberg right now until such time as i can afford to replace it with something else.

regards

nick :stupid:

Not fair to compare larger or injected engines with the 1.6GT as I once got over 500 miles out of my tuned up GTX, but only get 335miles out of a tank in my daily driver (same engine spec) and the 1.6GT didn't really manage that. I blame it on the fact that you have to nail it everywhere to go at the same speed...

In a 1.8 auto on a pierberg carb I'm getting approximately 345miles on a full tank of fuel, as a daily commute. :wakey:

the 1.6 Carb engines are notoriously bad on fuel, same as in the golfs. Remember my mate (who had a 1.6 driver) saying he'd only get about 15-20mpg when driving it hard. I'd say anything above 340miles on a tank would be a good result and you'd only acheive that with a steady right peg..
