Bottom Pulley

Hi guys,
I need to change the cam belt on my 1.8 and I can't for the life of me get the bottom pulley off, its the one on the crank with drives the alternator/water pump. It has a 19mm bolt in the middle and 4 alley key bolts around it. The alley key bolts are not in the best shape!

I have not tried heating them up yet as I am out of gas.

I had thought about cutting the plastic case of the leaving the pulley on to change the cam belt, I dunno if this would work or be a good idea though.

Any advice welcome.

Ash mate that 19mm bolt will not come off without a real fight. Just wrestle with the 4 hex bolts, if they wont move shock them with a chisle for a bit. Took me a good half hour to remove 3 of them after they rounded once.

You don't have to remove the 19mm to take off the pulley either mate.

If you are really struggling, I'm sure a local gargae would pop them off in ten mins for you dude. :good:

cheers bud, I got some more gas now so I could heat them up if need be, nice one on the 19mm nut, I wasn't sure.

Would I be foolish to replace them cam belt and not the tensioner? How much are they?
