K&N for Weber 32/34DMTL - 3 screws or 4?

Post by Junglist »

i just sold a K&N I had fitted to my Weber but the buyer says it's the wrong one. He said the hole's the wrong size and it should have 4 screw fixings not 3. I thought the Weber was a direct replacement for the Pooburg and so it should fit the same filter hole. He's saying otherwise. Who's right?

I thought he might be mistaken which model Weber he has but he says he's had an expert confirm it's a 32/34DMTL. I'm confused because both the Webers I bought were sold to me as this model and fitted the standard air filter and had 3 filter fixing points. Also, both the K&Ns i have bought in my time were sold to me as being for this model Weber and have both had 3 fixings and standard filter size aperture.

Who's right and who's wrong? Or are there different size Weber 32/34DMTLs?

See the pics in James Butlers post about doing the head gasket, are they any use?

It's where the filter goes on the carb, the 3 screws in a circle. It was a filter i sold him. He's sending it back to me for a refund, it's philano off here.

the 3 screws screw into the top of the weber then the k&n goes over the 3 screws and then bolts on to the weber

Yeah that's how mine is. So there is only one type of 32/34DMTL Weber then for definite? So he's definitely wrong, he must have a different model? Cheers people. Thought i was going mad for a minute.

have a look at this, kindly supplied by funkydiver. Part no 18, the air box adaptor, fits to the Weber body with 4 screws that are part 19. I would have thought that the K&N used the same 4 fixing points? Anyway, I need a K&N for my Weber. I'll pm you and perhaps we could arrange something?

So i'm thinking, looking at that picture, that the part with 3 screw holes for the filter is an adapter that presumably philano hasn't got on his weber, which is why he has 4 screw holes. Everyone else i've spoken to meanwhile has this adapter fitted to theirs as the Weber 32 /34DMTL generaXlly comes with it already on. Am i right with that deduction or completely barking up the wrong tree?

If one of those is the one i swapped (not sold) with you for a standard airbox, at no point did i say it would fit a Webber, in fact i said it was off a standard Pierburg. Just wanted to clear that fact up.

Don't ask me....it was like that when i got here !
