Good quality disks, (brembo etc) and good quality pads, (feredo, EBC etc) and it'll be fine. The size of Scirocco brakes is more than enough for there weight and power, the just need a manly push on the pedal.

Just fitted rover 220 gti 260mm disks and volvo 4 pot callipers, don't know what volvo they are from as I got the kit with shims from a guy on ebay that got everything refurbed but never fitted. Don't know how good they are yet as I haven't bleed them yet. 16v servo/master cylinder is always a great improvement and fairly cheap

I have a set of MK2 golf 16v calipers 256 discs and pads fitted to the front and braided hoses all round. I really enjoy driving different cars, but the Rocco has been my daily for the last 12 years. This brake upgrade has saved my life. Yes the original brakes are not the worst and do work with a heavy foot, but a small upgrade gives you greater stopping power and your braking distance is improved. The callipers have been replaced over the years and were originally off an Audi estate 20valve.Im planning to put Scirocco 16valve discs and on the rear when I next get a chance. A lot of people go mad on engine upgrades. I personally prefer good suspension and very responsive braking, especially given the fact Sciroccos corner so well.

My GT2 currently has Audi 80(?) front calipers / carriers and 260mm discs on the front, with a rear disc conversion too... You can stop it on a penny!
The front ones might be coming off soon in favour of modified Mk2 Golf hubs, G60 280mm discs, and Audi S2 twin pot calipers.

Quite possible you've bought these from a Scirocco UK guy. The callipers are from a 240 turbo IIRC and you'll need to get future discs machined out to fit over the hubs. That's going on my memory from about 5 or 6 years ago. The plus side is that by all accounts the stopping power is only limited by how hard you can press the pedal and how good your tyres and suspension are.
