"Lights On" Buzzer
Hi Guys,
Is the Mk2 supposed to have a buzzer to let you know when the headlights have been left on? I often leave for work when its dark and by the time I get there its light. I (very) often leave the lights on. I'm just wondering if there is supposed to be one as standard before I grab the soldering iron.
Thanks guys,
Hyperdrinky

No, nothing as standard. A GTX I had was fitted with an aftermarket one and made the most annoying noise imaginable.

Use relay number 292 in place 7 of the fuse box and you wil not foret your lights again.

Nice. Lol.
Would have thought that would have been on cars right back to the early 70s (being a spring chicken of 26 I wouldn't remember that far back). Can you still get these aftermarket ones these days? don't suppose there is a market for it anymore.

Re: "Lights On" Buzzer
you could take a live feed from the light circuit through the buzzer and down to one of the door pin switches that operates the interior light. with the lights turned on, opening the door completes the circuit and the buzzer will buzz.
I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!

Re: "Lights On" Buzzer
Nope,
It is an original buzzer from VW.
Made for our type of cars but mostly used in the Passat.
So look for it in the junkyard and try it in your car, plug and play.

Re: "Lights On" Buzzer
Yep. Relay 292 does just as described. This relay can also be had out of SEATs. I have one fitted to my T25 van, also in slot 7, and it makes a most pleasant pinging sound, not an angry buzz. On the van I had to also change the intermittent wiper relay (19) for a programmable relay 99 for this to work though.
I'll be trying it out on the rocco now. Top mod if it works there too !

Re: "Lights On" Buzzer
Good info... I seem to remember the programmable wiper relay being a mod for the rocco as well. I might need a lights-on buzzer now I have a daily that sorts the lights out for me.

How did I not hear of this magical relay before?
I have a how to somewhere of retro wiring the lights on buzzer...but it seems this relay would make it irrelevant.
