i picked up this a few weeks ago.iv known about the car for a few years.just been waiting on for the guy too sell it too me.the car came from the "city road garage"cardiff in 1979,its been sat in a garage with the same owner ever since.iv got every MOT,and every receipt for the car.its been off the road for the last 7years.so a full service was in need.i picked up all the parts from VW for a good price and a full system from fastparts.
I'm a little unsure what the wheels are,but the guy told me he payed extra for them when he bought the car,if any one knows, please tell me! i also have the original wheels.
not too sure what im going to do about styleing yet,(barr the the stupid chrome mudgards off) id love too keep it standard.but thats not going to happen,,nightmare,,haha
anyway..here it is.first update

the badges were a little worn,so i rubbed them down and hand painted them with model paint.takes a long time, but the results are good

Image

i picked up some 15x8 schmidt modernlines.i need to get the coils on and lower her down too see how they really look. still unsure what wheels too run.nightmare

Image

iv been putting the hardwork and time into the pepper pots.well over 48hours.and my arms feel massive! but im super happy how they look.just need some rubber and adapters.
Image

Image

polished up one of the modenlines, but im really not happy with the job i done.so im going to take them down too caerphilly.GAY!haha

Image

there was no going back for the bumpers.they had faded grey.and just looked crap.so i spayed the satin matt black.i painted the grill on my van a few mounths ago and the colour seems too be lasting out. looking super fresh!!!

Does this mean there is another Mk1 in Cardiff other than mine then? If my chances of seeing another on the road have been increased than I am a happy man!

No not mine at Dumballs Rd - That means there might be three! I have another '79 - a Gli. I Live in Canton, so it is normally around there, although it is currently at my other halfs parents house in Victoria Park while I am doing some 'remedial' work to it.

Yours looks stunning - The bodywork looks in the pictures like it is great - It has definitely renewed my mojo to hurry up and get mine running again!

How funny - I have never seen it around. Mine is also gold (actually mainly primer at the minute now), with a tan storm interior!

Am just finishing off a 2.0 16v transplant then I will be up and running, thanks for the offer, it is almost there now though, if only I knew you were around about 4 months ago when I started it!! Will stop hijacking your thread now! the rocco looks great, if you want a hand with anything give me a shout (although once I am done I think that I will be taking a short break from working on cars for a bit!
