Whats the difference between MK2 Golf and MK2 Scirocco front hubs?

I had a quick glance at a friends and couldn't pick anything out immediately..

...I think they are the same, but don't know what your tring to do!

the wishbone ball joint is how ever different though.. unless the shop used differet suppliers when i ordered the bits a year apart!

..putting my rocco wheels on the golf tonight, so I'll let you know!

If GTi hubs fit..That swap then G60 brakes would be a simple easy conversion for bigger brakes..Thats my thinking anyway.

The steering arm and rack is at a different height on a Mk2 Golf, so it's not an easy fit. Also, not all Mk2 golf hubs are the same. The ones you need to fit 280 discs and calipers are only found on cars with 256mm or 280mm brakes.

Adaptor brackets are the way forward.

I'm trying to avoid adaptors like the plague..Call me superstitious but brakes have a pretty stressful life as it is, without having another set of bolts and plates between them and the hub.

I'm going to try GTi hubs (256mm calipers}) and see what I can do with it.

I wouldn't recommend changing the hubs to get bigger brakes. I swapped mine after reading that this would be a good way to get some 256mm discs. It's not. Yes they'll fit, but I I had a nightmare trying to get the car to handle even half as well as it did before. Constantly adjusting the Camber and tracking, it was a skittish and horrible drive. After about 6 months of trying to convince myself that the brakes were worth the nasty handling, and that I would never really have to dvive it in the wet, I finally relented and swapped back to the original hubs with some 256mm carriers with the original calipers (which I had to buy brand new at £60 each!)
Again, I cannot stress enough how much you shouldn't swap to Mk2 hubs, get some brackets they're only lumps of machined metal, they won't kill you...
