Tips for removing B post vinyl

Post by daveyg »

As titl really, my b pillars are cracking and peeling a bit and have seen a few others without the vinyl and i like the look. Is it a case of a heatgun or similar (hairdryer etc!)
Any tips would be helpful

Thanks in advance

Best tip, do it in the summer when it's b**tard hot, with a hairdryer. Mine still came off in small chunks, but was well worth it :)

i think i used sticky stuff remover in the end to get the last bits of glue residue off.

i agree wait till summer, did one side of mine in the day, not much lue left to t-cut off, did the second side one evening different storey. Would suggest using a heat gun/hairdryer, once the vinyl has a raised edge i kept the heat on the attached edge and slowly peeled it back, you need more heat than you think, will take about 1.5 hours per side to remove the vinyl, you'll end up with very sensitve fingers by the end cos of the heat lol

oh top tip, to get the vinyl from under the window rubbers use the rounded edge of a small spoon to slowly and carefully scrap it off, good look, have a look at my build thread on SciroccoUK "white scala" abou page 6 i think :)
