I also found clear indicators too expensive so I made some.
I'm not saying mine are completely street legal though.
My camera is buggered and only takes clear pics sometimes, so I apoligize in advance
Remove orange plastic from standard lenses, I used a screwdriver, hacksaw blade and a soldering iron for this.
Cut a peice of perspex to fit inside the black plastic lip (Perspex is available from ebay, mine cost £2 including postage).
Using a blow torch heat up the perspex and bend into shape, I used a hard bit of plastic that had a matching curve as a guide.
Use a angle grinder (set to slow if possible) to gently trim the new lense to fit inside the indicator backing.
Trim the indicator backing with the angle grinder to remove any uneven surface, then sand, then wet and dry. Needless to say the longer you spend here the better the finish.
Prime...
Paint...
Before glueing the lense in use it as a template for the other side.
Glue the lense in.
I also painted the bulb holder silver as these are now visable.
Admire your work, and drink some beer :D
