I took this out the fuel tank at the weekend, is there suppost to be any thing on the end of the fuel pick up pipe, its out of my Mk1 GLS scirocco.
I know the Gti has a lift pump fitted but it also has a mesh filter on the end of the pick up pipe, should there be one on here?

that looks rather like the strainer has been removed and replaces with a bit of fuel hose so it still sucks from the bottom of the tank
