Hello All!

Post by RevDarkman »

Hi All

I have just got a Scirocco today - metallic silver GT Auto. Was looking for a car in a hurry and had not a lot of cash so ended up with this lovely car!

I was once the proud owner of a Mk1 GLS - I still have photos of that somehwere after it's respray and general tart up - but that was 20 years ago! I loved the Mk1 even though the dashboard kept melting, and once even ignited! Oh Yes and the disintergrating chassis legs on the rear....

My Mk2 is reasonably straight. Interior is intact with no rips, tears, sags anywhere, just filthy!

There a rather large-ish rust patch on the passenger side door and the bonnet has a serious case of laquer peel.

It has BBS alloys which are seriously filthy and also three of the original wheels and centre caps for four so I may just get a fourth standard steel rim as they will be quick and easy to refurbish - not to mention cheaper than the BBS alloys!

I'll take some pictures over the next couple of days so we can have a before and after!

PS if anyone has a spare bonnet and door in good condition - let me know!

:newbie:

Me shy??? just you wait!

In fact I think I know exactly where my Mk1 pics are - I'll dig them out over the weekend and scan them in

I'm in Bangor, North Wlaes, and I know there's another member from here already (been reading!)

I have to admit, I'm quite looking forward to this - no stupid computers on board to break, easy mainteneance and fault finding aaaa it takes me back to the last car I had I could service - a 1978 GT Rally Celica - I then bought a Supra and have had to pay big bugs for servicing - I might even catalogue my tool box! :chortle:

Ahhh Monaro man!

Well here's a piccie of my new daily driver.... it's a far cry from my last car..... an A8!

Well there's a few things to sort, the most urgent ones are pre-ignition (running on after you turn off the ignition), the tickover is WAY too fast, and being an auto does cause problems, and the heater is permanently blowing hot air! glad it's nearly winter!

Also there's a set of four BBS wheels with one centre cap - I'm going to revert to the original steel wheels as I have all the caps for them... so the BBS's will be up for sale soon

Welcome, got to say I love a black body kit on grey!

Do let me know if you end up getting rid of the BBS'. I'm trying to hunt down centre caps for mine!

Well the BBS's will be going very soon - only one centre cap there I'm afraid. Going to look around the breakers' tomorrow for a fourth steel rim as I only have three at the moment!

And the weekend is supposed to be nice so I will be giving the steels a quick rub down and lick of paint
