New Car!!! So excited!!!

Post by dozzum »

Now the proud owner of a 1983 GTi, picking it up on sunday. Bargain at £850 on sporty shocks and original alloys. :pilot:

Dunno what you guys think but the no spolier look is starting the grow on me. I think with a strip of black vinyl at the bottom of the rear screen it will look ok.

List of jobs i know of so far.
1.New clutch and investigate why its so heavy (hoping its not the bulkhead)
2. New sump as where it was sat so low its bin bumped n leaks.
3.New oil pressure switch and hope that solves the intermittent and annoying oil light and buzzer
4.Give it a good service.
5.Get it up on stands n clean up the bottom and give her a new coat of waxoyl ready for winter.
6.Sort out the sunroof as it sortof works with help and doesnt close completely right
7.Figure out why the passenger electric window doesnt close without a bit of gentle persuasion
8.Find a Scirocco GTi badge for the rear as it has a GT one at the moment, whats the point of a GTi if noone knows youve got one??? :yahoo:

Once its on the road i'll be looking to sell my Mars Red GT if anyones interested.

sweet looking car bud

if you need any parts bud give me a shout, I am not 100% sure but I think the rear hatch is VGC, the spoiler certainly is and the Scirocco script is good if you fancy the best of both worlds ;)

Should be a nice car when it's all sorted. I've never been a fan of the no spoiler look, but each to their own. :chill:

Them's banded steels and your GTi would have come with these alloys:

Very very nice looking.
Although that minuscule exhaust needs sorting!

think the banded steels got sold separately in the end(?).

they looked great but standard or aftermarket alloy = less weight = good thing

nice purchase! Car looks great, though if you are sticking with the spoilerless look that rear wiper will have to go!
