Which kind of sunroof? Factory Fit - sliding, or Glass Popup - dealer fit?

Your Sunroof is an aftermarket type, VW at the factory only fitted metal type sunroofs.

Have you tried cleaning the seal then smearing on some Vaseline or silicone grease to the seal to soften it up a little and help seal it to the glass?

Is there a make or any marking on the handle etc to see if you can buy a new seal?

Pop it out,red button detaches it, give it a really good clean, especially the rubber.

An old toothbrush helps. Dry it off you can use a gentle heat on a hairdryer

Some people suggest using vaseline well worked in as this will cause the rubber to swell, but others are horrified at the thought of putting vaseline near rubber?

The choice is yours.

If this fails there's a company that does replacement seals for around £70. I seem to remember they're in Bristol. If your car is damp anyway this can condense on the glass and drip down.

oops beat to it

Cap’n Tolley’s Creeping Crack Cure might be your friend in the interim, but a new seal or rubber washers where the bolts go through the glass are likely to be what you need to fix the leak(s) altogether.

Awesome, thanks. I’ll give it a good clean and go from there.

Ended up sealing it - it was indeed aftermarket!
