Hello guys,
Few days ago I was involved in a car accident which is not my fault. That's the first time I have to deal with it and I need your advice what is the best way to go to save my rocco, because insurance campany says that car will be written off :(
Thanks in advance

It depends on what category they have put it in, but I expect this is just uneconomical to repair. In that case you should be able to agree to keep the car, usually for a salvage reduction from your payout.

The best way to avoid any hassle in the future is to make sure you have the car insured with agreed value and salvage retention, which all of the classic insurers should offer. Then you would automatically be able to keep the car if it is not deemed to be dangerous to repair.

As Ed says - that's a salvage retention job all day long.

Thanks for replies. Today third part insurance company offered me £400 without any further investigation and I agreed.

Yeah, that's a decent deal. Can easily get a decent door for that!

400 seems a bit low for a total loss, even letting you retain the salvage. Bear in mind that now the car has been written off, if you are unlucky enough for it to be written off and it not be repairable, they will normally reduce the layout by up to half

Sorry I didn't explain it properly. They offered me 400 without any investigations (to avoid written off category) and they didn't even see the damage of the car, I didn' knew that insurance compnies can be that flexible :good:
