Inherited a white scala needs work

Post by Evors »

Hi

As title my grandads mk 2 has arrived as he can no longer drive.

I’ve never been a VW man so go easy

I’m looking to tidy it up so I can take him out in his pride and joy. Part resto/ full re spray to start

Car is in very good condition for its age but needs a few parts. I will make a full list shortly but to start

1 front bumper bar

2 door and window seals

Any help on where I can buy parts will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Ps how do I add pics from my phone always comes up with an error

Welcome Evors, to upload pictures you now need a taptalk ap on your phone.

Bumpers you will need to look 2nd hand as new ones are hard find and expensive, can the old ones be filled and painted?

Door scrapers seals can be bought new here as well as other stuff.

There’s thread on here to different suppliers etc. :good:

If you need door seals buy them new. They are expensive but buying second hand is a waste of time.

Locally VW Heritage: https://www.vwheritage.com/scirocco/bod ... ndow-seals

If you sign up as a paid Scirocco register member they will gladly give discount.

Or if you have friends in Germany that travel get them from VW Classic.

There used to be the Rubber vintage company in the States that were a bit cheaper but I don't know if they are still in business, but with postage and import charges VW Heritage probably works out the best.

Do not rule out leaks in the boot that can travel into the front of the car or water getting in from above due to a dodgy windscreen seal. Its not always the door seal letting in water if you have a leak.

I had trouble with water getting in at the top of the door (door had probably dropped due to worn hinges), I cured it with self-adhesive rubber mouldings from Car Builder Solutions.

I use my mobile phone to take pictures and use the tapatalk app to post the pictures from my phone.

Rubber seals etc are hard to find and expensive, you may need to import some items from USA and/or Germany a few members on here do sell some parts but a lot of stuff is no longer available.

Place to restore the car, not sure on distance to you but both places are run by Scirocco owners...

I have some door seals for sale at the moment.

Used but great condition, price is €.50,00 each without shipping.

If you need any more parts take a look at my Facebook page "Scirocco Delen Eimers"

Or just ask me if you need anything else.
