Scirocco tailgate

Post by Bough10n19 »

New to the word of sciroccos although loved them for donkeys of years and I’ve just bought a scirocco mk2 1.8 gt in black 1989.Has a few holes that I intend on welding myself , however the tailgate is too far gone and trying to find a replacement has been more difficult then I imagined . Does anyone know where I could get one from ? I’ve found one of a scirocco mk2 1987 . Does anyone know if that would fit or could be made to fit ? Many thanks

All the mk2s had the same fittings - the only difference being the earlier smaller spoilers and the later fat ones.

87 is identical to 89 regardless of model/trim.

there are 2 types of boot lid, early ones only had spoiler attachments at the bottom, later ones for the big spoilers had mounting holes all the way up the sides. think cut off was 84 ish so an 87 boot lid will be fine for yours.
