Stanford hall pics

Post by MRMENDER »

Great day our first time for us. A long haul as well for us just under 400 Miles round trip.
Good to catch up with some regulars and some new faces to welcome along
Got my camera out only to find I had a flat battery! :-( So just did these with my phone

Great to see some familiar faces again at this always very enjoyable event.

Wow, 400 miles round trip, that's showing commitment, Hywel! Compared to my whopping 36 miles roundtrip.

The few pics I took today:

A lovely day, and for me, quite inspiring to get on with my own projects and get to more shows. Been in my cave too long....

Great set of pictures, but a quick question......I can only presume the Scirocco with the registration L5 HOW is sporting a "show" plate as the years of registration for Sciroccos according to Wikipedia were from 1981-1992.

A " L " registration is for cars from August 1993 - July 1994 . or obviously later if used as a personalised plate ?

Anyone going to tell me the answer?

First time I've met the owner, Alfred? I think. It's the original registration. It was personal to the owner L S Howe I believe. It's one of the very last MK2 Scirocco. It has all the goodies of the day. Central locking, & lekie windows. Hope this helps

Thanks, looks a very nice car for sure.....I suppose if the car was left at the dealership and not registered until the 1st August 1993 it qualifies ok. Just never seen an "L " reg Scirocco before.

Yes, there are a few L-platers around that were, as you say, hanging around at the dealers without having been registered.

FYI Private number plate can not show a newer reg than the car, eg a 1988 car can only show a number plate upto F/G (depending on when it was registered) so you could not have a number plate with V111 WWW but could show WWW 111V.
