..........it sure felt like one.
Tuesday after Cosford I depressed the clutch at a junction....bang.... classic snapped clutch cable sound but the pedal/cable pulls the actuating arm up.
There's no resistance when depressing the clutch pedal though.
Any suggestion?

the rod in the center of the gearbox has punctured through the pressure plate by the sounds of it.
unfortunately the only way your going to find out is by taking the gearbox out.
it may be worth taking the end plate off the gearbox and checking the mechanical arm that presses on the rod hasn't snapped first though as its not unheard of those going as well.

see here for help on the end of the gearbox issue, it may not be this but its worth checking before having to pull the gearbox out.
