raising the engine

Post by alicarv96 »

my rocco is sitting very low which is what i was aiming for and the sump and gearbox hang very low and occasionally hit the road i even think i took the top off a cats eye in the road the other day. i know hockey pucks work well but looking on other forums aren't best for use on a mk1 golf. do they work for a rocco and if so should i try and lift the gearbox aswell any help would be much appreciated

generally engine or gearbox hitting the ground is a massive no no and it wont last long as either the gearbox housing will crack or you could bend/dent the sump and either
1. bend/dent it so much the pickup pipe touches the bottom starving the oil supply
2. split the sump and leak oil every where.

the best person to talk to about actually raising the engine in the vehicle is winston on this forum as hes done a lot of work to overcome similer problems on his mk1

Scirocco = mk1 Golf as far as the engine/mounts are concerned.

this is winstons build thread, if you have a look through it you will see how close his was to the floor.
