fuel metering valve mk1 scirocco gti - HELP?

Post by accyimp »

HI,
In relation to the above, part number - 035198685 can anyone point me in the right direction please?
I have tried VW dealers(obsolete since 2013), VW heritage, ebay etc with no luck.
I ideally 'only' need the two small o rings for the metering valve, if thats not possible then I will happily buy the full valve.
Can anyone help?
Thanks for reading!
Regards
Andrew

There was a "gasket" kit for later cars - 035198691-that might fit. Try that number with VW?

Returns nothing with VW classic parts.

Try asking http://www.classic-vw.co.uk as they are generally good at getting hold of stuff if it's available.

http://www.golfmk1.co.uk/ may also be worth a go, as might http://www.mk1autohaus.com/ in the USA, and http://www.werk34.de/index.php/language/en in Germany.

Failing that, its probably worth just getting a set of metric orings and finding the right one. It's probably not an unusual size. Something like this -

Quick update - just managed to 'borrow' a complete fuel metering head (from a later car) which may sort the problem - fingers crossed! - thanks for the help so far, and also to the 'lender' who doesn't know me from Adam - some decent folk about :)

If you want a 'spare', this is the Bosch p/n Primary-pressure regulator, K-Jetronic.

Thanks for that - looks promising!
I have a week off 22/02 so will be trying the full metering head which I borrowed and if no luck then I'll chase this one!

Quick update -
Managed to get the motor running - phew! It was all a bit 'heath robinson' - had to fit the borrowed metering head onto the original airbox upper but the air flow 'bowl' is a slightly larger diameter than the original - cue lots of pushing/lubing/levering to get the connecting pipework to inlet manifold attached - however it still wouldn't run - no fuel to the injectors- so we had to manually open the air flow flap to get the fuel to flow then it fired and we managed to run it for a couple of minutes, so quite promising. Probably worth renewing the injector seals and doing the timing belt etc now.
Thanks again for the help so far.

Money Pit at the minute!!!!!!!!!!!! Tank/pump/filters/pipes/gaskets/brake lines and flexis/cylinders/calipers/springs etc etc
Had an engine tuner to have a cursory look at the car today and as a starting point he advises having the original metering head refurbished - he's had them done before through 'Southern Carburettors' and thought it would be £300 plus vat (anyone had any dealings?). I'm also checking with KMI tomorrow.
I'm having the injectors tested and then the belts changed - I'm just hoping that after all this, It'll run and then get it's MOT.
Got the old V5 today, one previous keeper, tax disc from 88 and it's MOT - 08/08/1987 mileage 91795
Hope it's all going to be worthwhile.
Thanks for any/all help
Cheers
Andrew
