Wilhelm Schwebe, affectionately known as Willi, has spent his entrie career at Karmann, started as an apprentice, and worked his way all the way up to become Karmann's chief construction engineer.
Highlights in his career have included the Beetle cabrio, then the Ghia (coupe and cabrio), the Mk1 and Mk2 Rocco, and the zenith was the Corrado, after he retired.
He has been in Brazil 9working for Karmann on the Ghia for the Southamerican market), the UK (worked on the TR6), and has generated numerous patents for Karmann with his ideas of how to construct specific features on the many cars Karmann have designed and built.
Today he has turned 88, and is still well up for telling stories from his days in the automotive industry, Karmann in particular.
