We are on our 4th mk 2 this one has done nearly two hundred thousand miles through 8v injection scala model 3rd one we have.Would love to put a 2 liter audi throttle body on her but will over stress the engine we all ready have have the 16v fuel regulator. We all so have one of these ===

And a power roar and a stainless steel exhaust. No manifold.
Oil change and oil filter done before the 6,000 miles.
Said to our mechanic about putting a better oil cooler on her and a aluminum radiator but he said no good unless you are going to track her.And by putting a 2 liter audi throttle body on her would only stress a high millage engine. What are all you thoughts on this please ?
All thoughts much appreciated.

Re: Putting a 2 liter audi throttle body on high millage Engine.
I cant see it would trouble the engine with the larger throttle body you are only getting more air to the engine, if you already have a better manifold it will help with getting the gases out so the engine will only be breathing better. You are doing the right thing with regular oil and filter changes.
The only extra stress you will be putting on the engine is if you rev it higher, let the oil get above 80 degrees before going over 3000 rpm so it's nice and warm, they are pritty bomb prof engines but at 200,000 miles it will have some wear. I'm on 265,000 miles and mine is worn as if I floor it blue smoke seems to follow me down the road...
The oil cooler and radiator fitted will be fine for normal road use as long as you don't have old coolant in there, the blue stuff should be changed every 2 to 3 years.

We have no manifold as in stainless steel.Blue smoke is the piston rings gone.I have spoke to some one at VW Classic Heritage his mum had a mk 2 that done 340,000 miles.Yeah I know about oil change ever 6,000 and blue coolant ever two this is our fourth mk 2 vw Scirocco. And our 3rd scala injection 8v car.Sally ====mark1gls wrote:I cant see it would trouble the engine with the larger throttle body you are only getting more air to the engine, if you already have a better manifold it will help with getting the gases out so the engine will only be breathing better. Re: Putting a 2 liter audi throttle body on high millage Engine.
should be fine with this mate, as we discussed before - as long as the engine is healthy it wont add much increased stresses. its not like your running 100bhp of nitrous through it, or whapping a great big turbo on.
