Correct fuel pump relay for mk2 scirocco injection

Post by TheMickster »

Hi

I'm having trouble starting my car and think the fuel pump relay is on the way out. If I bridge the terminals the fuel pump works fine and the car starts.

The cars a mk2 scirocco Scala 1.8i j-reg.

The part number on the current relay is 321906059F, but on VW heritage site this relates to a JH engine code.

I assume it should have the part number 321906059G as I assume all injections are the DX engine?

Just want to double check I get the correct one, so any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Mike

Your car being a late model it could have 2 different engines in it, check the engine code it's just below no 3 spark plug.

The relay you have fitted is it a VW one and does it have a big number on it, mine has 63 printed on it.
My 1988 DX engine Golf cabriolet using a relay like this.

Yes it's a VW one and has the 63 on it, just checked the log book and it's got a DX engine code.

I did buy one from GSF and it was not very well made, when I tried it the fuel pump primed on turning on the ignition and when I came to remove it the top plastic cover came off so it was a pain to remove so I bought a 2nd hand genuine VW 63 relay and it's been fine for the last 4 years and I've got the GSF one as a spare in the glove box.

What he said! I got a non genuine one I think GSF from a breaker but same issue with the pump priming, didn't like it, so have one in glovebox as a spare. A mate reckoned it's a superceeded part that does from electronic injection cars that would have needed the pump primed
