omp front brace question
Anyone know if the bolts to fit an omp lower brace are longer than the standard ( original) ones fitted to our cars.
Im talking about the wishbone bolts.
Cheers

Re: omp front brace question
The original bolts will do just fine.
The strut is only about two mm thick and the bolt comes through about 5 mm (which you can only see if chassis is open)
So no worries there.

Are you all sure??
If it's like this
then it looks as if you'll definitely need longer bolts
*just found the other type - which would be Ok with standard bolts

Re: omp front brace question
the first one's like mine,
i didn't do it but the mechanic didn't have any problems using the originals.
apparently you have to jack it up to take the weight off the wheels to fit?

That one is not for under the car but for on top of the rear shocks if you ask me.mr.brown wrote:Are you all sure??

I can not see how that is going to fit on the front onderside of the car.

Re: omp front brace question
Joost is referring to the usual A1 chassis lower brace that is slightly curved/angled - like the Neuspeed one
The OMP one I've pictured is the one they list for A1 chassis

Re: omp front brace question
I think we are all right.
If you take a closer look you will see that at the end of the short pieces of pipe a disc is welded onto it.
In this disc there will then be a holee for the bolt to go through and as the disc only looks to be 2 or 3 mm you could still use the same bolt.
You will only need a socket wrench to fix it because you have to go through the short piece of pipe

Omp one I was referring to.
But I have an adjust adjustable one like the neuspeed one shown which I DO need longer bolts for. Any ideas on them bolts ? Look like they need to be around inch and a half longer !

Re: omp front brace question
When I used to supply the Autocavan adjustable braces I used to have to get the bolts from Germany to get the correct length in the same grade as factory. I think they were 110mm long 10.9 grade

Re: omp front brace question
You could email/ring Neuspeed - they sent me an entire ARB fitting kit for free (postage charge only) once.
Alternatively, ring C&R - tell them you have one of their braces and you've lost the bolts...

Re: omp front brace question
Could you not measure the width of the brace and add it to the lengh of the original bolt.
I think it's part 9 in this link but it has a strange bar fitting ?
