Oil Pressure switch a gauge

Hey Hey,
A little question this one. I am putting an oil pressure gauge in the car (when i get round to it) but still want the standard switch to work.
Im guessing i will need some type of T piece to do this? and wanted to check the thread size.
does anyone have any ideas?

Firstly its a M10 x 1mm thread for anything replacing an oil switch, however if you get a pressure sender with a double pole, one of them is for the gauge and one is the low pressure switch so you wont need the one you take out or need a tee piece. This fits in the right side of the head looking from the front where the existing low pressure switch fits. See my post

Hey mate thanks for the reply mine came out of an audi 80 as well .
The sensors came with it, however one was new. There is the pressure sender which has 2 poles one being wk and one g (however I always presumed wk was the gauge and g was ground?
And the temp sensors is brand new but looks identical to what is already on the car?

G goes to the oil pressure gauge, the wk can be used with the existing spade for the low pressure light on the dash. The oil temp sensor screws into the top of the oil filter where there is an allen bolt blank, take this out and fit the sensor with a new copper or ally washer. The green and black wire with a spade which is folded back along the adjacent cable is the wire for this sensor, connect this up and then search behind the right side of the fuse panel by the carpet and you will find the other end of this green and black wire. This goes to the G connection on the oil temp gauge. The oil pressure gauge will need a wire running through the bulkhead from the sender to the dash for the G conn on the gauge, I used one of the cable penetrations behind the brake servo for this.

And my guess is that somebody has already fitted a gauge to this at some point as the oil temp sensor is there and already wired under the bonnet.

OK this is now driving me insane, when to put the pressure sender in today and it doesn't seem to fit... it hits something at the back. Any ideas?
why is this turning into suck a ball ache

Jack, you are correct, it doesn't fit there. On the right side of the cylinder head as you look at it from the front is the low oil pressure sensor for the oil light on the dash. It will have a blue and black cable going to it and possibly a black rubber boot over the sensor. Take the sensor out and replace it with your 2 pole oil pressure sender. Connect the blue and black cable to the WK pole and run a new cable through the bulkhead and connect to the G pole on the sender and the G conn on the oil pressure gauge. This will give a reading on the gauge and it will also allow the oil lamp on the dash to work when you start up and if the oil pressure gets too low. If you want the lights to work on the gauges connect to the wires running to the fag lighter lamp in the ash tray. Hope this helps.

Ah ok thanks mate, where have I put it then? It was on the filter housing just behind the temp sensor

It could go there if the sender was smaller but as you found out the one you have doesn't fit. Make sure you blank that hole after you move it and before starting the engine as you will empty the sump in seconds!!!

The sender on the filter housing is the high oil pressure switch.

Now this is sort of related sort of not but didnt want to open a new thread :)
what colour are peoples gauges? as the guy who had it previously... well it seems he couldn't make his mind up lol
what looks best in peoples opinions to match the dash?

yeah thats what i thought but not sure what will happen with the orange filter
doesn't show up on the blue mind, but does on the white (far left)
