Hi guys

I have recently purchased my first scirocco - MK2 1.6GT

I have been looking everywhere for a tailgate lock and can't find one. Looking at the pictures i can find a mk1 golf cabriolet one looks similar. would this be as simple as a straight swap?

Any advice is appreciated!

According to VAGCAT, yes, they're exactly the same part number, 327827539.
1985 GTL 1.8

Might be worth fitting a new seal while you have the lock out, prone to falling apart and letting water into the boot, they are the same as Mk1 cabriolet.
