gt2 poor performance

Hi I had a scala last time I had a scirocco and it was a good nippy car.. now I've got a gt2 on carb and I swear my 1.4 mk2 fiesta is quicker well think most cars would be quicker there's no actual grunt pull it's flat badly gose ok on part acceleration but full throttle u mazewell walk lmao any info would be good cheers rob could something be wrong ie timing etc?

check vac advance working properly. with vac disconnected check timing moves with revs. check mixture is somewhere near, then advance the timing as far as you can without it pinking under load

Check the timing marks by the cambelt, it's very easy to be one tooth out when someone changed the cambelt, the car will drive but will be down on power.

Also what fuel are you using super or normal unleaded?

Will check the timing again tomorow just incase it seems to time slightly infront.. or slightly behind won't time bang on the mark ... Also is on shell vpower... Cheers mark

a regular miss or a random one? regular would point to only one plug not firing (dizzy cap, arm plug, lead) a random one may be harder to track down...

It's there from pull off until 3500rpm an struggles to go past 5k and wen idleing missin every 2secs roughly...

i'd guess jet dirty in the 1st stage of the carb. stick a vac gauge on it and see what you get

Did you replace the dizzy cap and rotor arm with a quality make or just a cheapy? These cars have an ignition amplifier which can break down causing shite running.
Try and rule out HT side first, then look at fueling, is the engine running too lean?

The worst cause could be loss of compression, fingers crossed it isn't!

I'm taking it to my brothers work(pj motorsport) today hopefully in his dinner break to compression test it and stick it on the dyno just on the fuel probe and then test spark to hopefully get it sorted today in worse case I do have a spare 1.8 carb engine came out my brother mk2 golf befor sticking a vr6 init.. the engine has 2.1 in the cast nobody knows why lol...
