Calibrating Mk1 speedo

Post by mark1gls »

This might be the same for a Mk2 but not took one apart.
I had to remove my needle to get access to the cogs to repair my speedo, I attached the speedo and drove the car and checked with the sat nav to get the speed some where near.
New style of dash!

If you carefully bend the needle over the stop there is a white mark on the speedo to where the needle should point when stopped. You can't see this mark when the speedo is back in the clocks.

I found this mark after testing the speedo and moving the needle a couple of times its difficult to stop the speedo moving while fitting the needle, you will see what I mean if you have to take the needle off!
