1990 Scirocco Scala Injection.

Post by Dave Dorson »

Here's my latest. It's very much a "do-er up-er"

Slight bump, hence my request for lights.

Plans for this, repair, clean, enjoy.

Made a start on sorting the paint out.

The rear quarters have been damaged with white spray paint, hence the patching appearance.

At the moment I'm going to cut back what I can, and look a blow over later.

that was done using an old bath towel and some brasso wadding. :hehe:

I know right?

In all seriousness, I'd have attacked it with a rotary polisher, but I'm out of G3 at the moment so decided to give brasso and a towel a bash on the advice of some old chap down the road from my Dad who used to restore MK1 Granada's

I'm impressed, especially given it's the wrong tool for the job so to speak, but I reckon I'd have got a better result had I "done it right",

However, it'll do for now.

More brasso today, moved the car to the workshop, where I'll start the real work.

Spent this afternoon cleaning it a bit more.

As you can see, the paint is far from good, but the brasso seems to be attacking the worst of it.

I won't get it perfect, but at least I can seal in a fairly decent looking layer once I've got all the crap off.

I guess it's years of tree sap eating away at it that's caused it.

The door will need a repaint, but I reckon I may well get away with just cleaning the rest, it'll never be a show winner, but the idea of this car is a cheap daily driver that I enjoy.

Good improvements.

Needs wheels...

And less foglights :)
