MK1 Golf petrol tank....does it fit mk2 rocco?

Reason I ask is I may be putting a diesel lump in my rocco (watch this space) and if they fit i may aswell use a diesel tank from a mk1 golf. cheers

The 12 gallon tanks are the same.

how do i find out how many gallons the tanks are?

up to early 1984 = normal size spare wheel, 40 litre/9 gallon tank
post early 84 = space saver spare wheel, 55 litre/12 gallon tank
