My Mk1 is almost ready to see the light of day, in the paint shop baking as I type, so hopefully back in my hands for the weekend.
Now, I stripped most of the car back in 2001, but most of it is straight forward.
The only thing that worries my a little is all the fiddly bits of trim around the glass.
The thick aluminium ones around the front ant rear glass dont look too bad, but the slim ones around the side glass look like they could be a bit of a "faff"
Does anyone have any tips? Other than being really really careful :
FAQ seems to suggest putting the trim in the rear glass before fitting the windows, does that sound right?

From what I can remember the side windows are to much trouble, it's the front and rear window which are a pain, took a couple of days as my fingers hurt, if you have the Chrome trim you can bend it to as near shap as possible and push it in, I used a bit of wood and fingers to push the chrome trim in, sprayed plenty of silicon into the rubber to help, the corners are the hardest to fit. I had the windows put in so had to fit the trim after. I'll have a look to see if I can find some pictures if any help?

Well...
Side windows went in easily.
I found the easiest method for the rear side windows was to apply plenty if Duck Oil to the rubber, and push the curved section of trim in. Using a small screwdriver to "pick" the rubber over it.
Worked well.
The long section on the bottom, again, lots of Duck oil as a lube, and slide them all the way in from the door opening.
The door glass, i'm struggling with a bit.
I've left the quarter light chrome trim in the rubber, but getting the rubber all the way in is proving difficult! Its most of the way in on the drivers door, but still not right.
Going to pull it out again when time allows and see if i can improve it.
Its almost there, but one of those things that will bug me if I cant get it right. :(
