£22k for a Scirocco? No, not a mk3....

Post by Reverend Frog »

This has got to be one of the dodgiest looking adverts I've seen - laughable pic resolution, a website that doesn't work...and a price that would get you a brand new mk3!

I would love a 'brand new' 16v Scirocco but I wouldn't pay any more than £6-7000 for, if that

No such thing as a 1992 16v.

Indeed very poor pictures! Yes, in 1992 only the GT11 was available, unless it had sat around for 4 or 5 years awaiting a buyer, possible but unlikely!

Checked the Drivers Found website for the German and Dutch brochures, no 16v in 1992 in either! I would not have thought Italy would be any different also in one of the pants pictures you can just make out the grey/black stripy interior from the '80s, none of the brochures from any country had that available in the 90s.

Cheap at half the price for a non original. Don't forget the hidden Italian tax charges so add another 19% at least to that price, never mind the bullshit, zero assistance because your not local and the Italian charm factor in making a sale thats not going to happen anyway. Oh La Dolce Vita! Rick, you know you want it. Or if you want a spin in a 16v give me a shout the next time your over and you can take a spin in mine, even though it is a Scala!!

I'm going to butt in (can you do that to your own thread?) with a bit of pedantry here - it was possible to spec a German GTII in 1992 with the 95kW/129PS 16v engine - obviously not the firebreathing non-cat 139bhp version of the 80s - but you could get one if you wanted. You could also opt for heated leather seats!

http://www.driversfound.com/scirocco/hi ... n1992n.htm

anyway, still doesn't change what I said originally - this is Frankenadvert.

Definately dodgy....

But I if it's genuine then the price is the same as you would pay for a new sports coupe with only delivery miles on it...!

Bet you a tenner they don't give a 5 year warranty! LOL

This is my most favourite most best favourite best most well written line from the ad:

"there is not a more original well kept original"
