what speakers fit best???

Post by steble »

hey guys what speakers fit best in the front and back of the mk2 rocco????

i know they are 4x6 and i've seen you mention the alpines but are there any others that fit with the grill on?

like these for example

i have a round set of these and they are actually very very good bearing in mind how cheap they are

or these in phase i have great respect for these speakers i've had a set of 6x9's for years and they are incredibly good speakers although they did cost somebody £300 so i suppose you'd expect them to be. (came in a car i bought would never spend that much on speakers lol)

I have found the JBL 6x4 speakers to be pretty good for the size and cost.

Pyle are a cheap make and get some pretty pants reviews!

I upgraded all mine with Alpine, I think they only cost about £30 a set but a top quality product and sound good and not forgetting they fit behind the standard grills!

I brought some of the Alpines at christmas for the front of the Golf and would recommend them, they are lacking in a bit of bass but I think thats down to where they fit, I've got a sub in the boot so not to much of a problem. £25 from here.

You might have problems fitting the Pyle speakes as they seem to have a large magnet on the back...

I had JBL 4x6"s too. Best thing I did was to get rid of them and build pods and fit 5 1/4" components in the front!

I've got some in-phase stuff too - some 80mm 2 ways in the mk2 dash and a 8" active sub - I'm more than happy with the sound of them, and the aparent build quality's excellent for the price.

Yeah I put the Alpines in all the pods and a little sub in the boot - sounds pretty good :music:

I installed the Blaupunkt IC 109s which were mentioned in another post and they were a direct replacement - used existing grills, mounting hardware and wiring. They weren't expensive and good replacement for the OEM VW/Blaupunkts which were in there for 29 years prior.. I'm sure there are better quality speakers out there, but these were pretty nice for a stock setup.

I got the JBL 4x6 a few weeks back when I found an online voucher on http://www.voucherbox.co.uk/ and would definitely agree that they are great value for money. It's true that they lack a bit of bass, but apart from that the overall sound is good.

Cheers, westley
