Anybody else got these on their mk1 scirocco?

Post by malmac »

Hi,

see pics - are these original, there's one of these either side on boot floor.

If they are, what are they for ????

Very well made jacking point for a rear mounted machine gun? My one was all over the place.

Those are very interesting, pretty certain they're add on, not spot welded, and not shown on any ETKA drawing I can find, but as to what they're for, I can't really guess.

Thanks for replies folks, i was actually going to pay to watch the latest Bond film "skyfall" over the weekend but if it's true and I have got rear facing machine gun mounts welded to my boot floor then it pales into insignificance !!

On a more serious note i think it's another "quirk" to my motor as it came with a KPH Speedo and has a FF tilt sunroof which clips out to remove altogether when the "sun" comes out. I was told by previous owner that it was an import too, i'll have to delv deeper.

Didn't the early mk1's have their brake lines going through the interior as opposed to underneath? could these be part of the routeing for such pipework?

mk1 gurus will know for sure.

They do run inside the car but not into the boot, only along the inner sills.
I've no idea what these are, never seen anything like that on a Mk1..... :dunno:

Just had that same thought! Is there anything on or around the slam panel of the hatch that might form a top fixing for a sunroof panel stowed in the boot?

It still looks like they're a custom made part, but the kind of useful period custom part that VW should have fitted themselves!

The sunroof holder is a good idea, I'll check to see if there's another fixing to confirm this. Maybe if I knew what country my car was brought in from might help, ie: climate, might be for heavy duty jack or fist aid kit.
Only problem is ain't got a clue where to start looking !!

Could these not be used for lifting the height of the boot floor / carpet when using a wider spare wheel / tyre?? Say a 14" with a 185/60?? Only a stab in the dark, lol
