Has anyone on here ever changed the cam on a 1.6 to a cam off a 1.8 8 valve? If so what engine code would I need to get the 1.8 cam from? As I know there are two different types, my car Is a 1.6 gt 1986 engine code EW,
Any help appreciated

The only hard and fast rule is that an engine with shimmed followers must use a cam from an engine with shimmed followers, similarly an engine with hydraulic followers must use a cam from an engine with hydraulic followers.. other than that its up to you regarding what you want in terms of drivability, powerband etc..

GTI cam is a cheap mod but if you have other mods or want to take it further then look at Kent, Piper, Newman, CatCams etc then take the plunge!
