16v Handbrake Cables & Super Sticky Rubber & Bodyshops/resto

I've been out the scene for years now but i still have the Scirocco, and i've just resurrected it from the garage. She fired first time

Anyway years ago - 12 ish i did the rear disc conversion and used the 16v handbrake cables but they have come to the end of their life so i need a new set

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier of these, or does anyone have a spare set

Also - My Eagle F1s have perished after many years of static storage. Now i got them through an MOT but i'm somewhat loath to drive any distance or any speed on them.

As the car is likely to cover less than 1000 miles a year now going forward and only on sunny Sundays, can anyone recommend a high performance sticky tyre. Not overly fussed on wet weather performance as i'll drive it like my missus when its wet or not at all. 185/60/14

Lastly - at the fine old age of 21 she has developed a touch of tin worm (the car, not the missus) and the Tornado Red is moving toward matt now so it's time for a refurb. Any recommendations on a quality bodyshop so that i can give her another 20 years life?

I'm in Tunbridge Wells, Kent

Cheers

Andy

Look at Camskill for tyres. If you want stickies then Toyo R888 or Yokohama Advan A048R are about as good as each other. I favour the Toyos as I've used them for years and have always got on with them. You'll need to run them at lower than recommended pressures. Measure the pressure after a run and reduce it then rather than guess at cold pressure. They like to run at about 26psi hot iirc.

You could still get handbrake cables from VW or GSF/ECP last time I needed some.

Thanks for the tyre tips

I didn't realise the 16v cables were stocked by VW etc. Anyone know a part number?

Thanks

Hello

I've tried GSF, EXCP & VW and none of them ahve any 16v handbrake cables. The part was apparantly discountinued in 2009

Any other pointers? Or are there particular branches or delears i need to speak to?

Cheers

More Scirocco 16v's in the US than anywhere else, so a good place to look!

My local VW dealer ordered 16V handbrake cables from vw-classicparts.de
