Stalling!!!!!!

Post by brindy123 »

Hope someone can help,

I live in Loughborough if anyone is close enough to help.

I have just changed my rocker gasket and since then it has started stalling at the lights and at low revs. It seems to be worse when the engine has warmed up?????

Any help please???

did you remember to replace the earth strap when you put it back together? should go from the corner of the rocker cover to the coil

I did put that back but, would it matter if I put it under the bar and not the bolt?

Thanks for the help

to be honest i really don't see why that strap is there, as the engine has a mahoosive earth cable somewhere else. but not having it fitted can cause all sorts of weird problems, so i suppose anything is possible!

also check you haven't knocked a vacuum pipe off

Sounds very much like an air leak. As stated, check all your vacuum pipes, and also if your car has a carb, check that the rubber mounting between it and the manifold hasn't split, a common problem.
Other possibilities if it's a carb car are the fuel shut off solenoid. These can fail sometimes, I've had one do it.

Does anyone have a diagram of the engine bay or the vacume pipes so i can make sure they all go where they are supposed to. i Do have the odd short stubby pipe and have wondered if they should be linked to somewhere?????

on some cars you will find a sticker with a map of the pipes on, stuck to the slam panel. try just plugging them temporarily and see how it runs. just make sure whatever you plug them with can't get sucked in.
