February -10 I found this nice GTII from ffp.fi sales section. When we went to pick it up Finnish winter showed for it is capable...-31 when we started heading for 250 mile journey and coldest was -37. Also somebody was messed the timer for preheating so it was on 5 minutes before I went to start my car. My saab 9-5 didn't sound happy at all but started immediately  When we started to get back home we had really bad snowstorm

here back at home

With oem springs you feel driving suv so lower we go...I bought Raceland coilovers ~200€ delivered so I thought why not try them

I've been quite happy with them. Ride quality is good, no leaks or dropping which some of you have had with their coils.

Rocco came with snowflakes but I bought these BBS from Golf III. Perfect fit with 5mm spacers in front and 10mm rear. I had 195/50-15 but rubbing was bit og a problem so I bought 175/50 Kumhos.

Image

For winter I didn't like steelies at all so Sebrings with 185/55-15 studded Bridgestone Noranza2's works fine

Paint looks good after washing

But reality is shocking. Rocco has had it's share from acid rain, stones etc...50/50 after heavy polishing with rotary, woolpad and Megs 105

Image

Rocco was booked for painting 11.6 but then nice white cloud started to follow the rocco

What do we have here...

Head gasked had failed and coolant leaked into 1. cylinder. Funny thing is that Rocco had total top end reneval 43kmiles ago. New seals from Elring, new water pump + other goodies only costs under 150€ so no disaster

Machinery shop took 69€ for checking the head. I dropped it yesterday 11am and got it back 1pm so fast job because we have holiday today

More pictures will follow after we've put the engine back together. I have some ICE waiting for installing: Alpine head unit, zetec vector 350.6 amplifier. macrom loudspeakers. 10" subwoofer 4" 2-ways already installed into back and 6.5" 2-way system will be istalled into front. My friend is a carpenter and promised to make adapters.

I also have 9A waiting to get some attention

Captain Slow knows it:"Lapland home of lapdancing"

Scirocco is now alive...almost. Fuel pump relay decided to have shortcut. Of course new one had to be ordered and I'll get it on Monday.

Yesterday I took rocco to MOT and no fails

Still having proplems with K-Jet. ISV is still stucking time to time. I cleaned it with CRC Brakleen. Also changed all rubber hoses to vacuum systems. When K-Jet is working properly PPO-values were at idle 12ppm and 2000rpm 14ppm :yahoo:

Fuel relay also seems to be tricky. New relay cuts of after 4000rpm with full throttle. I'm loaning relay from my friends -87 cabby so I can test is it relay or relay contact in fuse box.

Also time to paintshop is only week away. I'm wondering about colour should I keep OEM LC6V or add 5% gold xirallic into it. With gold it might look really good in sunshine?

Shine is not a crime 8-)

After painting not much have changed. Lot of sanding and polishing for paintwork. Also taped Wolfsburg logo into the hood.

Dipped VW-badge with Plasti-On. Lamin-X for headlights and Flatdiscs from 924 Turbo. Size is perfect 6x16 ET52 and adapters are 20mm front and 25mm rear. Tyres are bit too high 195/45 but I bought "used" Continental Premium Contac2:s whic had been driven about 10miles for 200€.

Finally I'm installing ICE...more pictures to come
