Made to order Areosol Cans
I've been trying Halfords for a Pearl Metallic, code L94K, but they are useless. They never have the stock to actually make the paint, and then are quite vague when it will be available.
Is there anywhere else to get one made up?

Re: Made to order Areosol Cans
Obviously too late now, but worth mentioning I got some Alpine White rattle cans from the dealer.Bonusrocco wrote:thanks ordered up
Each 150ml can was only £6.16 +VAT which I though was pretty reasonable especially to be sure it was proper VW stuff I was getting. Can't say they definitely do metallics, but can't see why not.
Something to bear in mind for anyone else looking to get some aerosols.

I'm ordering through car paint repair, but they cant agree with the code L94K. I'm pretty sure this is right, but if anyone can correct me...

Yet another reason for going to the dealer.Bonusrocco wrote:yup still dont get this - carpaintrepairs are saying the second digit should be a letter ...
Like I said above, I got mine no problem and at what I thought was a reasonable price.

As I mentioned earlier:
http://www.paints4u.com/paintdoctor.aspx
On this page you can follow the instructions and will have the option to enter your paint code. They have no trouble matching it. In my experience the paint colours they supply have been an excellent match and delivery next day.

ouch! that seems a bit pricey for such a small amount of paint! personally, i've used the halfords mixed to order (colour was a nautical mile out) and mr motor (very close colour match) and paid about a tenner for a 500ml tin both times.
paints4u seem to be selling upol, which is pucker bodyshop grade paint, not diy stuff, and seem quite well priced. just ordered some for my van. i'll report back on quality as soon as i get a dry day to try it

Re: Made to order Areosol Cans
I dare say it might based on the price you've quoted for 500ml out of Halfords, but having heard mixed reports about how well matched their Alpine White was I preferred going the dealer route.Nate wrote:ouch! that seems a bit pricey ...Cpt Custom wrote: I got some Alpine White rattle cans from the dealer.

My dodgy masking/paint technique aside, I think these demonstrate a good colour match (both using paints4u supplies):Nate wrote:paints4u seem to be selling upol, which is pucker bodyshop grade paint, not diy stuff, and seem quite well priced. just ordered some for my van. i'll report back on quality as soon as i get a dry day to try it
