Gearchange indicator and MPG indicator on dash

So in my scirocco, as you look at the dash clocks there is an gearchange and economy indicator at the top, in the middle, where the temperature gauge would normally be..

In 5th gear the MPG indicator works fine, just like it always has. However, the problem I have is that the LED gearchange indicator has stopped illuminating when I need to change gear :( So I'm wondering if any of you guys who have the same clocks as I have could tell me if it's more likely to be the LED, the fuse, or something else?

I'd like to have it working properly again but I'm not too hot with electricity

It could be something simple like the vacumn hoses, check and replace, the relay (no.5 I think) or the reversing light switch which is all part of the system. There is another switch by the dizzy which is a dealer only part 171 919 825 (about £13).
