With the job I do I get to travel around the country side of North Wales and Cheshire. On my travels I have come across some real old classic cars etc. Basically come across a Mk2 Scirocco the other week offered the guy £150 and he accepted.
Some good history with the car. His wife had bought it from new. Was last taxed in 1997 last month to be exact. She didn't want to sell it so kept it in the "orchard" (very posh) where up until 4 years ago it was being driven around the land twice a month to be kept sweet, then the battery died and they never sorted it so its just been sat still for few years.
Has 99k on clock. I've owned a Mk2 Golf and Jetta previously so I'm a huge fan of the Dub scene and the 80's early 90's dubs especially.
Going to be a good summer project once this cold snap has fooked off.
Plans at the moment are to mainly just get road worthy engine running etc, then maybe a few mods.
Heres some pics of how I found it. (phone pics)

The interior pretty much imaculate just a little damp with the weather, but get a heater in when I get it home

The Engine needs a good tidy up

The TAX Disc

After a couple of weeks, mainly due to me working away and not having the time to collect. Last weekend I finally got it home late saturday. The next day got up nice and early (with the missus - not impressed) and went over to my grans where it is being stored and got started on cleaning it. Was full of leaves etc in all the gaps and just general grime and crap. Also tree sap on roof and bonnet, recommendations for any good sap removers??
Here's some pics before the wash.

This is the biggest patch of rust on the whole car, passenger door.

This is on the drivers door and the only other bit of rust showing through.

So after the wash I had to some how get it in the garage and with the tyres being fooked wasn't going to be easy, or so I thought. The work vans rear bumper happened to be the exact same height as the front bumper, so with some old pillows and bed sheets I pushed it back in the garage. Was still awkward with no steering from front tyres being goosed.
Got it on stands etc and got wheels off and I had forgot to clean in the arches when I washed it, so blamed it on the missus. So they are covered in cobwebs etc. Had a look under the car and it looks pretty good. Suspension and brakes are a definite change and rubbers etc. Exhaust looks ok but will be getting new one at some point.
Put a battery in just to try get some life out of it. There was life, lights etc all work apart from passenger front indicator. Also turn the key was trying to start but I did have a battery from a 1litre micra on. LOL. Will hopefully have some life this weekend, fingers crossed. Might actually just need petrol.

Got a battery yesterday and put that in and some petrol gave it a turn, was trying to start. So much for hoping for it to be the simple problem. After a thought last night I think I'm just gonna change most parts, even if they work. Also had managed to get 4 tyres free and at a cost of £15 had them fitted can now move the car a lot easier.
Will have another update soon.
Total Spent so far: £260
£150 for car
£50 recovery
£45 battery
£15 swap tyres
Thanks
