Mk1 Unobtainium - what would be on your wish list?
Why do I want to know? Well, it just so happens that some of those things are readily available in the US.
Example, mk1 injection fuel tank to pump hose. I'm pretty sure I bought the last one in the UK a few years ago yet they are available off the shelf here. In fact I just ordered two aftermarket copies for $5 each.
So, what's top of your list?

Afraid not - they have a different angle on the dangle (or rather between the flat part on the top of the door panel and the face of the door skin).

Nice new front panel for a 81 storm or a perfect dash in black.
On this subject sean how much are the 16v right hand inlet manifolds going for over there? 2nd hand ones? Excuse the slight change of topic.

I sold my one for $75 I think but I've seen them go for less, and more. Someone currently has a 50mm one up for $500monzajake wrote: On this subject sean how much are the 16v right hand inlet manifolds going for over there? 2nd hand ones? Excuse the slight change of topic.

B/C pillar clips. They are the same early or late. The ones that hold the early hockeystick/later boomerang fixings aronund the side rear windows.
Series 2 front panels.
Series 2 bumpers. Ok, some are available from VW.
Series1 & 2 front wings. There are no plans to re-manufacture beyond curent stock at VW. Fibreglass replacements are a good fit however.
All years interior seat trim and door card trim.
Rear quarter panels.
OEM glass
OEM repair panels on a par with mk1Golf from VAG - dream on!
rear hatch panels
Bonnets
Forward wing replacement panels
Wing tops (only now available by 2nd hand Veng NOS)
Windscreen lower corners
I would just like the the Scirocco to be on a par with the Mk1 Golf when looking at regular parts supply. But wholly cognizant of the production numbers and the cost in tooling.
Mk1 Autohaus are amazing in the states and supply a huge range of interchangeable stuff, but would love a blatant OEM supplier for the Scirocco. Oh, should that be the Register?

Nylon/plastic piece that the seat front runner slides on. The golf one is the wrong shape!

I second that, Beetle ones are wrong too, slightly too big.PeteGLi wrote:Nylon/plastic piece that the seat front runner slides on. The golf one is the wrong shape!
You know, VW Classic Parts do actually take requests for remanufacturing parts fairly seriously. I think if we organise ourselves a shortlist of NLA parts with genuine demand, we would have a shout at getting some re-made. Take a look at the type of parts they have remanufactured for the Golf Mk1, they are listed as 'Classic+ Parts' and are made to original specifications (not NOS). There are HUNDREDS of Golf parts remade, but not a lot of Mk1 Scirocco stuff... YET!
I don't think they would be interested in doing the big stuff (sheet metal, dashboards, seats etc) but I would not rule out any plastic trim parts or simpler things like cables which are readily remade.
My contribution:
Mk1 bumpers (plastic covers)
Bumper side clips
Steering wheel press button (inner part with the tangs/clips)
Mk1 late front indicators
Front spoilers
Bonnet lower catch
Plastic scuttle tray cover
Instrument binnacle RHD (LHD ones are available though)
Plastic seat runner bush, front

I like the suggestion to approach VW by Oli above. I would be happy to make enquiries with an initial wish list.
