Looking to sell my rocco, now its in great condition, id say interior is best original in the land... 64k on the clock and was in top running order with a weber carb and ronal alloys.
Now the bad point in a haste i started to dismantle engine to start restoring it, well can i remember how to put it all back ?? noooo...
So do you guys think ill be best to pay a mechanic to put it all back £300ish i guess and sell it running sweet and looking sweet ? or sell it for parts ? or sell it as it is sold as seen resulting in less money but no outlay...
Cheers
James

Put it back together and keep it. I know thats probably no help but damn, its a definate keeper.
Dont you know anyone who can help rebuild engine?
You'd make more on parts but why break such a cracking car?
If you must sell, and you dont know anyone who'll help rebuild for free then get a decent spanner monkey and get it rebuilt...then sell it as a runner.
Put it all back together again it will be worth a lot more.
Break it and you will get peanuts for the parts, been there, seen it, done it, and bought the teeshirt and regretted it ever since.
Is there no one near you that could give you some advice and physical help to put it right ?
What's your location I'd be interested in looking if your not too far away.
JUST NOTICED THIS APPEARS TO BE POSTED TWICE ??????????
A heart broken GLI - R.I.P. A loveable GT. A practical Polo now deceased.
Rochdale Lancashire/Manchester.... Help would be very much welcomed and paid for... Having been in and had a little play i think ill build it up to sell... or keep ha!
I'm in Rochdale and have a 1.6 GT, but unfortunately not qualified to rebuild engines - I leave things like that to the pros!
Your best bet is to assemble all the main essential parts, like new genuine gaskets, timing belts, tensioners, water pumps etc. and pay someone to reassemble the engine for you. You should have something that is funsamentally sound for a few years. 64k miles is nothing for a Scirocco, and judging by the general condition of yours, has many years life left in it. It's also unique (cool) to boot! Get your parts from TPS in Chadderton.
If you're having to cut your cloth, then sell it. But, before you do, have you thought about selling your other vehicles first? It's easy for the heart to rule the head, but setting aside the 'Scirocco' factor, what you actually have here is a reliable piece of transport that's easy to fix, cheap on parts, qualifies for (cheap) classic insurance, holds it's value and is obviously a step up from a motorbike (more civilised and practical!). Sounds like a good bet for someone who's cash-strapped!
You would probably make more money by selling the other vehicles rather that the Scirocco. Where there's a problem, there's also an opportunity,
