Where are you based?

These Avus alloys will not be cheap to refurbish as there is two processes to complete.

I know you said cheap but if you are thinking about a £70 per wheel refurb I'd be tempted to buy new, maybe €100 each (~£85-90) and most colours are available.

I did a set DIY... Takes a while though!

Remove all old finish.
Flat/fill/prime
Hammerite (silver)
Then hand painted the coloured area (did mine black) 2 coats of plasticote.

Alternatively, you could apply the "colour" all over, then rotate the wheel whilst aplying abraisive, then lacquer over.

They're the 2 cheapest ways - otherwise, a silver refurb and again, hand paint the colour.

The silver on the Avus wheels is not painted, it is polished, the colour inserts are though, hence the expense!

Back in the early 90's I had an early GTX with Avus wheels, I tried cleaning them up with a sander and various other tools but I was ner happy with the end result, I thought they looked crap! I ended up taking them to an alloy wheel specialists for a "proper" job.

That said, if you have the time and patience then give it a whirl, you could end up making a few quid out of it if the results are good!

I know its a bit of a late post but you could try these guys they quoted me £51+vat each if Laquered, if not then £71+vat, sound odd but is to do with the type of diamond cut required? http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/
