Freshen up for my Scala.

Post by seanr68 »

Ok, just about finished the refresh on my 92 Scala.
Engine has had a good tune...not performance tuning, just making sure its all working well, as it should.
She's also had a respray. The bodywork was in fantastic condition, and the underneath is solid. There was only one small ding on the drivers wing, which has rusted due to the paint been scratched, however, a new wing was fitted and sealed properly, then it was painted along with the rest of the car. Bit of a nightmare when i came to put the side repeater back in as the wing i fitted came of an early gt and didn't have the holes for the repeater. I only noticed this when it had been sprayed, so had to be Uber careful drilling the new holes, it all went ok though.
Just fitted new steering rack boots and a nearside, inner cv boot, so she's now ready for a fresh mot, as soon as i've put the new Weitec shocks and springs on the rear, thats why it looks a bit high in the pics, compared to the front...also need to replace the wing mirrors.
Heres a few pics:

That looks really smart, I'm hoping mine looks that good when it's finished! Tough choice on the wheels but I'd probably go with the ATS Cups, I've never been such a fan of that style of BBS. Personal preference though. :beers:

Ha ha yeah, be good if they were. I'm just in process of sanding and painting wiper arms satin black. The mirrors go on later this week.

You could do what I've done, have a set with summer tyres and another with winter and swap them over when needed.

Although if you do that I'm not sure I would want the BBS in winter, lots of cleaning.

Nice paint job, couldn't see any orange peel in the photos.

Theres a little bit on the skirts because they were off the car and the chap reckoned they were a pain to do. He said to bring car in when they were all bolted back on and he'd give it a proper going over then. In all i'm very happy with it. Just need to tax, mot and insure it now.
