Relay 292 works on my '89 Scala i but with some provisos:

1. It is not a 'nice' sound, it is a very discordant, high pitched buzz;
2. It works when the lights are on but the ignition is off, which isn't how most work. I only want it to work if the lights are on and I open the door;
3. And by far the biggest problem, the fog lights don't work (out of interest did those who said that this worked check their fog lights after installing it?).

Not a very successful purchase. :(

I'll go and buy 2 sets of buzzers and diodes and make some I think.

Thanks for that. Very helpful indeed. The only point that bothers me is the fog light thing. I can handle the nasty noise and if it comes on when the keys are out it'll stop me leaving them on overnight. I like using my fog lights though. I wonder if the same would happen on my gtii. The wiring is different with it having far less electrics. Can i borrow yours to see if it works? I'll pay the postage obviously.

Sure, pm me a delivery address. Don't worry about the postage.

What was the outcome of this chaps? Do the fog lights not work on any model when using this buzzer/relay? Would love to know as I left my lights on yesterday! :blush:

Buzzer = no fogs unfortunately. There'll be a way of having both but i'm not sure what it is. You could always run a circuit that itincludes the sidelight circuit and the interior light circuit so if both are live it's activated. Can't be hard. All you need to make it is the wiring and a sounder.

I haven't fitted mine yet, as Trinny is a LONG way from needing electrical upgrades... but will post up any findings I have.

Ultimately, Kieran is right... it just needs the right power supplies and fanny's your granny's daughters sister in law.

lights on buzzer would be dead easy to make. go to maplin or similar and get yourself a 12v sounder like this http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98106

connect the +ve to the dash illumination or to the sidelights

connect the -ve to the door switch

simples :hugegrin:

Wouldn't that give you two positives?

No, as the door switch is an earth not a positive. It would work though.

Can i connect to these feeds at the fuse box? If so i'm gonna do it this evening. Should only take ten minutes. Or do i have to splice into the wires somewhere? In which case i might leave it altogether!

You would need to connect anywhere AFTER the light switch.

Personally I think it'd be easier to make the connection on the back of the light switch before skewing off to the door pin, it'd involve less faffing about under the dash for a start.

So you can't access these circuits at the fuse box then?

You can do it off fuse 7 or 8 (side lights)... for what you want to do.

This will ...
1. Side Lights off - no power supplied to the buzzer at all
2. Side Lights on - power supply is provided to the buzzer, however the earth is not made until you open the door.
3. Open door - earth is created from buzzer completing the circuit, buzzer sounds... leaving door open. Turn off lights, no power to buzzer.

The wire colour you are looking for is the grey with a black trace (on post 85 cars at least)
